Timothy Shawley

Timothy Charles Shawley, 49, Magnolia, Texas, went home in the arms of Jesus at 9:40 pm on Saturday, February 23, 2019 surrounded by family and friends. During his fifteen-month battle with Esophageal Cancer he was lovingly cared for by his wife. He fought all the way to the end. He was born on June 23, 1969 in Defiance, Ohio, the son of the late Kenneth F. Shawley and Marcella M. (Gehron). In 2004 he married Barbara Babbit Shawley on November 6th in Trenton, Ohio. He is survived by his wife of 15 years, and three dogs; Jasmine, Artemis and Casey, and the hearts of the puppies they raised for Guide Dogs for the blind. His parents, Kenneth and Marcella, and a brother, Frederick preceded him to their heavenly home to await his coming. He leaves to mourn his loss his wife Barbara, her Mother, Sharon Babbitt of Council Bluffs, IA, four sisters, Mary (Melv) Retcher, of Defiance, OH, Elizabeth Lombardo, of Hollywood, FL, Sandra (William) Mohr, of Edwardsville, IL, and Jane Anne (Steven) Grindle, of Holland, OH, three Brother-in-Laws; Gregg (Lori) Babbitt, of Council Bluffs, IA, David (Marie) Huggins, of Council Bluffs, IA, John Huggins, of Council Bluffs, IA, Sister-in-Law Patty (Dan) Leonard, of Moville, IA, and twenty nieces and nephews. Timothy was active in Boy Scouts. He graduated from Defiance High School in 1987 and was a proud member of the Defiance High School Band of Class, active on the quiz team, science club and chess teams. He attended the University of Cincinnati for Computer Science. He graduated from UC in 1993. He started working in Middletown/Trenton, Ohio as a contractor in Information Technologies. In 2008 they moved to Houston, TX where he started working as a contractor for HPI, and subsequently was hired by HPI, full time. He sincerely enjoyed his work there, mentoring several teammates during his tenure. HIs life was devoted to volunteering for the Guide Dogs for the Blind and Guide Dogs for the Blind - Houston, TX Puppy Raisers where he and Barbara raised several dogs. Babe, who decided to become a pet living in sunny CA; Rachel, who was chosen as a breeder for GDB and has had 9 puppies so far who are still in their raisers homes. Dixie, the last puppy they raised became a guide dog on December 1, 2018, and works with her partner in Sacramento, CA. The celebration of his life will be held Friday, March 1st, at The Church at Alden Bridge, 8050 Branch Crossing Drive, The Woodlands, TX 77382. Services start at 10:30am, officiated by Pastor Nick Jones. Luncheon and fellowship for family and friends following. Preferred memorials are to Guide Dogs for the Blind - College Station, TX Puppy Club, and the two San Antonio, TX Puppy Clubs, GDB has set up a “Timothy Shawley Memorial Fund” in care of Guide Dogs for the Blind.
