Richard "Snookie" Kreger

Richard Lloyd Kreger, “Snookie,” 72, of Houston, Texas, passed away on January 23, 2025, after a courageous 4.5 year fight against liver disease. He was at home peacefully surrounded by his wife Debbie and friends. Snookie was born in Houston, Texas, the son of Joe and Ruth Kreger. He was the youngest of 3 boys. For his entire life, Snookie lived in the Cypress area and had opinions about how the area changed over the years. Snookie graduated from Cy-Fair High School in 1970. In high school, Snookie enjoyed playing on the Bobcat Varsity Basketball and Baseball Teams and was even the Bobcat mascot. Snookie worked at Dril-Quip for 29 years until his retirement in 2019. Snookie married Debbie on June 16, 1990. They were married for 34 years and lived in Houston. They enjoyed eating Mexican food with their friends, tubing down the Guadalupe River, trips to the beach with friends, and traveling to their “bucket list” places. Snookie enjoyed poker with the same group of friends for more than 30 years. He enjoyed golf, fishing, hunting, and watching the Astros and Longhorns. Snookie loved life and he enjoyed having fun and not taking life too seriously. He was a jokester. He was well liked by all who met him. He took great pride in his grandchildren and watching their activities. Preceding Snookie in death are his parents, Joe and Ruth Kreger, his brother Joe Wayne Kreger, and his sister-in-law Brenda Kreger. Snookie is survived by his wife Debbie Kreger; his step-daughter Amy Villarreal and her husband Omar Villarreal, his step-son Bubba Locker and his wife Amy Locker; his grandchildren, Joshua Villarreal, Katie Villarreal, Hannah Villarreal, Luke Villarreal, Sophia Villarreal, and Allison Locker; his brother Gary Kreger and his wife Pam; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Snookie will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Services will be held Tuesday, January 28, 2025 at 2:30 PM at Magnolia Funeral Home in Magnolia, Texas. There will be a family burial at a later date in Fayetteville, Texas. The Addison family and staff of Magnolia Funeral Home extend condolences to the Kreger family during this difficult time.
