Peggy Stark

Peggy Ann Lackey Stark, 79, went home to her Heavenly Father on April 28, 2026, peacefully in the Hockley, Texas home she had cherished for the last 50 years surrounded by her loved ones. Peggy was born in Edinburg, Texas, to Charles William Lackey and Peggy Joyce Lackey. She grew up to become the kind of woman whose love left a lasting imprint on everyone who knew her, a faithful wife, loving mother, cherished Nanny, beloved big sister, adored aunt, and treasured friend. Peggy married the love of her life, William “Bill” Stark, and together they shared fifty-four beautiful years of marriage. The couple began their lives together in Corpus Christi, Texas and settled in Hockley, Texas; the place they would call home for the next five decades and where they raised their children. Peggy joined Bill in heaven just in time for their 59th Wedding Anniversary which is on April 29th. For 25 years, Peggy served as registrar at Holleman Elementary in Hockley, where she touched the lives of students, families, and coworkers with her warmth and dedication. Her greatest joy, however, was her family. She was a loving mother to her two children, Cody and Amanda. For the past 24 years, her greatest joy in life was being ‘Nanny’ to her two grandsons, Kade and Blayne. She cherished every moment spent with them, who were the light of her days and the pride of her heart. Peggy and Bill shared a love of traveling in their travel trailer to visit Native American powwows and seeing this beautiful country. Peggy had strong American Indian roots that she embraced wholeheartedly, learning about and honoring the culture she loved so deeply. She shared her talent for decorating beautiful cakes for every special occasion, birthdays, holidays, and milestones with her children, grandchildren, family, and friends. She enjoyed cooking wonderful meals for her family. Christmas time was her favorite time of year when she beautifully decorated her home and spent quality time with family. Peggy was preceded in death by her devoted husband of 54 years, William “Bill” Stark; her father, Charles William Lackey; and her mother, Peggy Joyce Lackey. She is survived by her son, Jason “Cody” Stark; her daughter, Amanda Dawn Stark Beall, and her son-in-law, Jeremy Beall; her two loving grandsons, Kade Allen Beall and Cody “Blayne” Beall; and her inseparable sister, Bonnie Fontenot. She also leaves behind family and friends whose lives were richer because of her presence. A celebration of life will be held at Magnolia Funeral Home on Saturday, May 9, 2026, at 10:00 am located at 811 Magnolia Blvd. Magnolia, Tx 77355. A luncheon will immediately follow at the home of her daughter and son-in-law. Peggy will be greatly missed by all who loved her, but her family takes comfort in knowing she is now at peace, reunited with her beloved Bill and spending eternity with the Heavenly Father she loved.
