Mary Lou Suss

Mary Lou Schlosser Suss, age 66, of Tomball, TX, passed away on August 8, 2026. She was born in 1959, in Bloomington, MN, to Francis William (Bill) and Ione Schlosser. She attended Augsburg College, where she studied early childhood education and psychology, before meeting her husband, Jeff, at a basketball game. They were married in 1988. Mary Lou will be remembered for her tenacious spirit, positive attitude, and grit (exhibited, among other ways, by her impressive tolerance for the Louisiana and Texas heat). Mary Lou had a knack for finding the most eclectic experiences. Endlessly curious, she never missed an opportunity to travel somewhere new with Jeff, people-watch at a brewery (bonus points for happy hour), or Google the answer to whatever unusual question had crossed her mind. Between tennis, mahjong, gardening, and spending time with her grandchildren, Mary Lou was never one for downtime. When she was “relaxing,” she could be found in the living room, reading material for her next book group with a cat on her lap. Through countless acts of service, Mary Lou was a dedicated volunteer with numerous organizations, always looking for ways to better the communities around her. If you needed her, there she was. She is survived by her husband, Jeff; daughters, Elizabeth (Arturo) and Ellen (Clay); grandchildren, Max, Liam, and Sophia; and kitties, Sophie and Jojo. She is also survived by her siblings, Sandra, Sally, Cindy, Gail, Tom, and Lisette. She was preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Ione. She is finally reunited with her cats Gracie and Cassie. The Suss Family would like to thank their community for the outpouring of love and support they’ve received during this unimaginable loss. In lieu of a traditional memorial, a day of volunteering will be organized in Mary Lou’s honor. More information will be shared at a later date. In lieu of flowers, Donations may be made in Mary Lou’s memory to SpayMart (https://spaymart.networkforgood.com/), the local cat rescue from where Jojo was adopted. May Mary Lou’s memory bring many cats comfort while they await their forever home.
