In Loving Memory of Jeffrey "Jeff" Yasuo Shinsato It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Jeffrey "Jeff" Yasuo Shinsato, who passed away on July 18, 2026, at the age of 69. Jeff was deeply loved by his family and friends and will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. Jeff was born in Honolulu, Hawaii, to Harry Yasuo Shinsato and Catalina Beate Shinsato. He grew up in Hawaii and proudly enlisted in the United States Air Force at the age of 18. Jeff served his country with honor, integrity, and distinction for 20 years, retiring in 1994. His dedication to service, strong work ethic, and unwavering commitment to helping others remained with him throughout his life and inspired everyone who knew him. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry Yasuo Shinsato and Catalina Beate Shinsato. His beloved sister, Diana Hernando, who passed away in 2025. He is survived by his siblings: Katherine (Joseph) Lawrence, Shirley (Jose) Serrano, Marilyn Aleki, Joseph Shinsato, Monica Higa, and Jonathan (Mydee) Shinsato. Jeff shared 21 wonderful years of marriage with his beloved wife, Ozlem Shinsato. Their love story began in Türkiye, where they were married. In 2009, they welcomed their son, Jeremy Shinsato, who became the center of their world. In 2011, they made their home in The Woodlands, Texas, where they built a life filled with love, laughter, and treasured memories. Family was always Jeff's greatest priority and his proudest accomplishment. He was a devoted husband, a loving father, a proud grandfather, a caring brother, a trusted mentor, a respected veteran, and a loyal friend. He had a remarkable gift for making people smile and laugh, and he never hesitated to offer a helping hand to anyone in need. Jeff believed that family and friendships were life's greatest blessings. His kindness, generosity, humility, and sense of humor touched countless lives. He lived with compassion, integrity, and quiet strength, leaving behind a legacy that will continue through the many people whose lives he enriched. Jeff is survived by his children, Eric Yasuo (Melissa) Shinsato, Bryon Terrell (Denise) Shinsato, Kristina Michiko (Dwayne) McCaleb, and Jeremy Shinsato. He was also a proud grandfather to Kyler Chase, Landon Yasuo Shinsato, and Cooper Nerland, who brought him endless joy and pride. Our family is deeply grateful to our relatives, friends, neighbors, and everyone who kept Jeff in their thoughts and prayers and supported us with their kindness, love, and encouragement throughout this difficult time. Your compassion has been a source of strength and comfort, and we will always be thankful. Although our hearts are broken by his passing, we find comfort in the love he shared, the memories he created, and the example he set through his life of service, compassion, and unwavering devotion to his family. May Jeff rest in eternal peace. His love, laughter, strength, and selfless spirit will remain in our hearts forever.
