Elinor Pyle

“She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come.” — Proverbs 31:25 Elinor Ann Ford Pyle, 85, of Hockley, Texas, went to be with our Lord on March 31st after a lengthy illness. Our beloved mother lived a life that beautifully reflected this Scripture—one marked by strength, dignity, unwavering faith, and a joyful spirit that touched everyone she met. Elinor graduated from Magnolia High School, where she was active in music and played piano for school dances. Soon after graduating, she met the love of her life, David H. Pyle, Sr. of Conroe, Texas, at a small eyeglass store out in the country. It was the beginning of a lifelong love story, and they married soon after, sharing 63 wonderful years together. A devoted Christian, Elinor made church a cornerstone of her family’s life. Every weekend, without exception, her family worshiped together—a testament to her deep faith and commitment to raising her children in Christ. She was baptized and confirmed at Salem Lutheran Church in Tomball, Texas, and her love for the Lord remained steadfast throughout her life. Her greatest treasures were her sons, Dr. David H. Pyle, Jr. (affectionately known as “Dude”) and Dana M. Pyle, who were truly the apple of her eye. She devoted herself fully as a homemaker, creating a home filled with warmth, laughter, and the comforting aroma of her cooking. She was a phenomenal cook and baker, especially known for her bread and pies—expressions of love that brought family and friends together. Elinor shared a remarkable 63-year love story with her husband, David H. Pyle, Sr. Together, they filled their home with laughter, humor, and enduring devotion. Through their example, they taught their sons what it means to live honorably, love deeply, and serve others with kindness and compassion. She never met a stranger—only friends she had yet to meet. Her warmth, kindness, and genuine spirit made everyone feel welcomed and valued. Gifted and determined, Elinor taught herself to play the piano and later shared her talent by playing at dances at Magnolia High School. Her love of music continued throughout her life as she faithfully played the organ and piano at St. Mark Lutheran Church for over 30 years, enriching worship for generations. She cherished lifelong friendships—some spanning more than 75 years—and found joy in simple pleasures like trips to San Marcos for shopping and time spent laughing with dear friends. Her life reminds us of the importance of love, faith, and connection. As the song by Cody Johnson gently reminds us: “Take that phone call from your momma and just talk away 'Cause you'll never know how bad you wanna 'til you can't someday Don't wait on tomorrow 'cause tomorrow may not show Say your sorries, your I-love-yous, 'cause man you never know.” In honor of Elinor’s life and the way she loved so freely, we leave you with this simple but powerful reminder: please reach out to your loved ones today and tell them how much you love them. No one wants to be inconvenienced, but spending time with those you love is one of life’s greatest gifts. That is a lesson Mom would want everyone to carry forward. All they truly want is your heart and your time. Elinor’s legacy is one of love, faith, music, laughter, and unwavering devotion to family and others. She leaves behind a lasting imprint on all who knew her—a life beautifully lived and deeply cherished. ________________________________________ Elinor joins her love of 63 years, David H. Ford (deceased), Tomball, Texas Sister-in-law, Shelia Ford of Tomball, Texas Sister-in-law Mary Ann Ford of Tomball, Texas Nephews: Wayne Ford, Jefferey Ford, and Chris Ford of Tomball, Texas, Ron Perry of New Jersey, Marcus Perry of Montgomery, Texas Nieces: Shelly Krusleski of Montgomery, Texas, Julie Torresani of Idaho Goddaughter: Shelly Krusleski of Montgomery, Texas Great-nephews: Wyatt and Mason Ford of Montgomery, Texas Special Granddaughter, Deliah Glenn Pyle of Spring, Texas And numerous cousins and extended family who loved her dearly. Close friends of 75 plus years that did life together till the end. Any remembrances, the family requests that it be given to St. Paul Lutheran Church, Magnolia, Tx and the American Heart Association. Elinor’s sons want to thank the nurses and doctors at VITAS Inpatient Care of the Woodlands for making Mom comfortable and giving exceptional care to her while she was still with us. We will carry out your legacy of loving people with Christ’s love. I am going to miss calling you every day.
