Dolores Duff

Dolores passed away peacefully in her sleep Wednesday, April 12, 2023 at 11:06 pm. She was born in Orange Grove, Texas to Emil & Emma Jaroszewski on December 13, 1934.They moved to Taft, Texas when she was 4 years old. She married Bill Wendland in 1954 and they owned a farm outside of Taft until they divorced in 1972. She was a wonderful seamstress, she would sew all four of her girl’s clothes, including pajamas made from feed sakes. She sewed for the public, making beautiful wedding gowns, and hard to fit women for a number of years supplementing her income. She picked up a hobby of oil painting. She took lessons including from Windberg. She met her husband Charles Duff, of nearly 40 years, in 1981 while working at Sears. She was a dispatcher for 10 years and Charles was the handy guy that put all the toys and furniture together. They met at a dancehall, and recognized each other from work, and that is where their love for dancing together began. They moved to Trinity, Texas to care for his elderly mother in 1982 and they married soon after. She worked for a local dress shop for a number of years. She was a faithful member of Dorcas Wills Memorial Baptist Church where she worked at the Day Care so she could be close to her granddaughter Emili. She loved her Pastor, Brother Brown and Sunday School Class. She served on the Benevolence committee for many years and made lifelong friends. She loved doting on her husband, which he loved too. Charles protected and comforted her later in life, when she needed it most. She lived a life of service, as she would take care of any mending or fixed their favorite dish when anyone was around her. She always had the most beautiful Christmas trees, as she was so talented with decorating. She recognized this as her talents and her calling from her Lord and Savior. They built a home in Deer Run, in Trinity and made many friends, where they enjoyed hosting family and friends out on their pontoon boat and fishing from their back yard. Later they built and moved to Trinity Plantation where they loved having a friendly game of poker with neighbors and family. Dolores and Charles, also known as Pappy and Grandma Dee started the tradition of the whole family coming together on the Saturday and Sunday before the actual Thanksgiving Day over 25 years ago. They play games including poker and golf, catch up with what was going on in their lives and eat some wonderfully prepared meals. Dolores would bake her best dishes if someone came over. This tradition still continues to this day with this beautiful family. This was their favorite weekend of the year. She was always so proud and thankful of her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, for coming to visit and helping them with projects around the house as they aged. Charles and Dolores moved into Love On ‘Em Assisted Living in Magnolia where the Staff and residence’ grew very fond of both of them. The family would like to thank the staff at Love On ‘Em and Amedisys Hospice for their care and compassion they provided to Charles and Dolores. They grew especially fond of Angie, Timberly, Sarah and Kelly. They gave them such joy the last few months of their lives. The Addison family and staff of Magnolia Funeral Home extend condolences to the Duff family during this difficult time.
