David Marshall

David Marshall, age 47 of Spring, passed away on January 19, 2023. What mattered most to Dave - undeniably and emphatically - are his family, friends, music, and soccer. Dave’s love for the Beautiful Game began at the early age of 5. Over the next 42 years he was committed to the game as a player, as a teammate, as a team supporter and ultimately as a fan of his kids. If you played with him, you might have been on the receiving end of a few cross words, joined in with him to “counsel” the referee, if you needed tape … he was your guy, witnessed him grow into a leader, or watched how he moved off the ball, made a good pass, played in a great cross, or simply took a shot without any angle. If you had the chance to sit with him on any sideline, the banter is one that none of us will be able to replace. Through the game Dave built many strong and lasting friendships. He held those friendships very close and tried his hardest to always work in a gathering so he could try and recreate the memories with those that had such an impact on his life. His family had no choice but to love the game, just not his loud cheering. The game gave him the opportunity to be more than just parent, he was a coach, a team manager, a trainer, and his kids biggest supporter. He taught the kids how to equally love the game, to be disciplined, and to be the best teammate. Outside of soccer, Dave’s time was spent playing DJ, catching a show, sharing his words of wisdom, or poking fun at your expense. He was an amazing person, one-of-a-kind, and will be missed by so many. David is survived by Michelle Marshall (wife), Wade Marshall (son), Collins Marshall (daughter); Bill Marshall (father) and Joanne Marshall (spouse), Keith Koteras (stepfather) and Maria Koteras (spouse); Kristin Jolley (sister) and Luke Jolley (spouse); Kari Harper (sister) and Jonathan Harper (spouse); Bryan Marshall (brother); nieces and nephews; Annabelle Marshall (dog). In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to the kids’ college funds. Details will be shared by Michelle in the coming week. Any amount is appreciated.
