Snider Alvin Gandy, resident of Magnolia, Texas passed on Thursday, August 12, 2021 after a short illness in Houston, Texas. He was born in Bossier City, Louisiana on March 31, 1927, graduated from Bossier City High School in 1943, attended LSU, served in the US Navy during WWII, and graduated from Centenary College of Louisiana in Shreveport in 1948. Mr. Gandy worked at Texas Eastern Transmission Corporation in Shreveport where he met his wife of 55 years, Dorothy. They relocated to Houston in 1961. He was a Ham radio operator, handyman, curious intellect, Sudoku fanatic, lover of science, and faithful servant of the Lord. Mr. Gandy retired from Texas Eastern in 1985 after 38 years of service. In 1997, Dorothy and Snider moved to Magnolia, Texas. He lived an active life and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He is preceded in death by his wife Dorothy Hayes Gandy in 2010, parents Gertrude Wilson and Wiley Alvin Gandy, brother Alfred Kenneth “Bubba” Gandy, and son-in-law Ed Tinker. Survivors include daughters Diane Tinker, Laura Leigh Gandy (Micky), and Carol Gallegos (Ken). He is also survived by grandchildren Brooke Bailey Dies (Michael), Jennifer Carol Spring (Kevin), Allen Tinker (Felisha), Kimberly Gallegos, and Lauren Nash (Brady); great grandchildren are Aiden and Hunter Tinker, Keira Spring, Brynn Nash, and Elijah Maldonado. Viewing at Magnolia's First Baptist Church in Magnolia, Texas will be Monday from 2:00-3:00 PM with funeral service immediately following at 3:00 PM. Mr. Gandy will be buried beside his wife and parents at Hill Crest Memorial Park and Mausoleum in Haughton, Louisiana where there will be a graveside service for the family. In lieu of customary remembrances, the family requests memorial contributions to the Montgomery County Food Bank or the charity of your choice. THE BURIAL WILL BE A PRIVATE FAMILY EVENT.
