Phyllis Gail Mock Calhoun, 52, of Selma, Texas, passed away on March 17th, 2021 with her husband by her side, in San Antonio after a two-year struggle against glioblastoma. She was born to Benjamin Mock and Delores Lowry-Alvis in Houston, Texas. Phyllis graduated from Westfield High School in 1986. This resulted in her chosen occupation as a veterinary technician in both the Houston and San Antonio-Austin areas. Phyllis also loved children, leading her to serve several years as a Klein ISD bus driver. Her passion for the outdoors was evident to all who knew her, especially of her love for fishing. Above all, Phyllis was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and aunt. She showed her love of family to all who knew her, and always treated everyone, and every living thing, with kindness and compassion. Her steadfast faith in the Lord gave her the strength to fight hard during her struggle the last two years, and she will be missed by all who knew her. Phyllis is survived by her husband, Art, daughters Kristi and Felicia, grandchildren Brynlee, Alice, Scarlet, and Dante, parents Benjamin and Virginia Mock, and Delores Lowry-Alvis and Bill Alvis, sister Sandra and brother Michael, numerous nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles, and cousins, as well as her dogs Peanut, Poncho, and Pewee, and cat Slinky. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Anton and Mary Mock, and Bert and Eula Lowry.
