Mary Kathryn Dann

Ms. Mary Kathryn Dann went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, August 17, 2020. She passed away peacefully in Tomball, TX at the age of 77 after a 10-year journey with Dementia. She was born and raised in Bellefonte, PA, and moved to Ohio in her early 20’s. In 1975, she moved to Texas where she raised her family. Looking for a change of scenery, she moved to Tennessee In 1993 where she enjoyed living until a job transfer called her back to Texas and the opportunity to be closer to family again in 2009. She always enjoyed sharing with everyone that she was the baby of 10 siblings. Mary thrived as a waitress, working in the restaurant field for the majority of her adult life. She was loved by her regulars who would come in asking to sit in her section. She had a very giving heart, generous even to a fault, but she never met a stranger in her life, and her smile could light up a room. She was known for dressing up in costumes that she would sew for different holidays throughout the year. An avid photographer, she was rarely without a camera around for taking pictures every chance she could. She loved to dance the jitterbug and put on her cowgirl boots for some good ole country dancing. Most of all, she just wanted to give to others, often sewing anything and everything anyone mentioned they would like or baking some of the best homemade bread and whoopie pies around. Mary joins her beloved parents Calvin Albert Dann Sr. and Helen Marie (Myers) Dann and her siblings: Marlene June Struble, Emma May Schweiker, Williams Charles Dann, and Paul Wilbur Dann in Heaven. She is survived by siblings: Grace Mildred Burris, Calvin Albert Dann Jr., Ethel (Ginny) Virginia Meredith, John Winfield Dann, and Nannie Hazel Lentz. Children: son Joseph David Dann and wife Fran of LaGrange, TX, daughter Faith Ann (Merillat) Hinklin and husband Jeffrey of Tomball, TX, son Marvin Roy Merillat and wife Michelle of Navarre, FL, daughter Marie Louise Merillat and husband Neil Bulk of Culver City, CA, son Daniel Allen Merillat and wife Kim of Beach City, TX. Grandchildren: Megan (Westfall) Feagins, Joseph Albert Dann, Zachary and Hannah Hinklin, Aeriel, Eli, and Lila Merillat and Julian, Skyler, and Jager Merillat. Great-Grandchildren: Tye, Jayce, and Kayleigh. Mom, Momma, Grammie Dann, aka “Happy Girl”... you will be greatly missed here on Earth, but never forgotten. Until we see you again in Heaven one day… keep on dancing!! We Love You! ❤ Due to the current COVID-19 restrictions in place, the family has decided to plan a Celebration of Life at a later date.
