***The family requests that you wear something pink in honor of Jake.*** Loren Jacob Strahm AKA “Jake” 74 Years Young (as he would have said) of Magnolia, Texas, entered Heaven on March 5, 2021 after a short illness. He heard the words from the book he had read to his great grandson, “Welcome home little one” Jake was born in Emporia, Kansas to Loren Marion Strahm and Liseten Mamie (Young) Strahm on March 29, 1946. Graduated Gridley High School, served in the Army, worked as a Contract Welder for 35 years and a General Contractor the last 20 years. He was also an Entrepreneur of several businesses both here in the Magnolia/Pinehurst area and his home state of Kansas. Jake had a love of racing, drag racing, classic cars, motorcycles – basically if it had wheels & went fast, he loved it! Most of all he loved people and connecting with them. One of his pastors once told him “Jake you are the link in the chain that connects people to people.” Jake would say “A stranger is just a friend I haven’t met yet.” He loved the Lord Jesus Christ and wanted to make sure you knew Him too! You may remember Jake for one or more of the following: Hugs, Pink Shirts, Alf in his classic car or on the back of his Motorcycle, Perms in the back of his hair, kissing the back of “HIS” hand, not yours, Wet Willies, letting you know he was the Best Looking, popping by unexpected, Peanut Butter or Oatmeal Raisin Cookies, Pranks to get a laugh or… to get noticed, Sneaking away from a gathering to take a quick nap, Everything In Its PLACE, his calming voice, Listening ear, followed by a million questions to get the full picture, Words of wisdom, Generous giving if you had a need, his Love for his family, his friends, his country, and his love for his Lord. Welcoming him home with the Lord were his parents, Loren and Liseten Strahm: nephew, Paige Metzger; brother-in-law, Albert Edelman; and sister, Dorene Metzger. Waiting here on earth to meet him again in heaven are his wife of 52 years, June Strahm; Son, Paul Schmalz and wife Ruth, Son Clint Strahm, Sisters, Jeannie Edelman, Kerry Beyer and husband Steve, Rose Schiesser and husband Terry, Julie Bahr and husband Brian, Tina Schumacher and husband Jeff, Brothers Phil Strahm and wife Gail and Scott Strahm and wife Kathy.
