Lena Bernice Halfin
September 20, 1929 - February 22, 2022
Lena Halfin went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on February 22, 2022 at the age of 92. She was born Lena Bernice Sonnier in Lake Charles, Louisiana on September 20, 1929 and died in Magnolia, Texas after living several years in nursing homes since suffering a debilitating stroke in 2014. She is preceded in death by her mother Lena Peloquin Sonnier, father Shug Garrett, brothers Alvern and TJ Sonnier, and husband Jack Halfin. She is survived by her sons Barry Halfin and wife Jan, Tim Halfin and wife Lynne, grandsons Layne, Zach and his wife Veronica, Tony, and Michael, granddaughter Sarah, and great grandson Jacob and his wife Morgan. In her younger years, Lena was very involved in the VFW Auxiliary holding local and district positions at the VFW post in Liberty, Texas. She was an avid bowler and traveler. Lena was known for her spot on sense of humor, amazing food (especially her gumbo!), and her legendary ability to organize and clean any and everything! In fact, she would clean the house three times a day, even if she was the only one home that day. And, one beloved neighbor said, you didn’t need a plate when you ate a meal at Lena’s because the floors were clean enough to eat off of them. Up until the end of her life, Lena was spunky and resilient. The condolences of the Addison family and staff go out to the Halfin family and friends.
