Dorothy Nell Shivers Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Dorothy Nell Shivers died on March 11, 2021, three years to the day after the love of her life, John William Shivers passed on March 11, 2018. She was born in Holly Grove, Texas on April 3, 1931 to William Morgan Kervin and Sallie Martha Rhodes Kervin. Along with a banking career, Dorothy dedicated her life to making a wonderful, loving home for her husband of over 70 years, her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She always went out of her way to help family and friends when they needed anything. She provided a home-away-from-home for so many who were lucky enough to be in her life. We called her Mom, Meme, and Aunt Dot. We are devastated that she is gone but filled with happiness that she is holding hands with Papa gazing upon the face of our Lord. In addition to her parents and husband, she is predeceased by her brothers, Junies C Kervin, Billy Elton Kervin, Raymond Elba Kervin, and Bradford Kervin. She is survived by her daughter Dotty Wright and her husband Ronnie; son John Shivers, Jr. and his wife, Mary; grandchildren Jamie Freeman and his wife, Amy, Jeremy Freeman and his wife, Ashley, Trey Shivers and his wife, Betsy, and Crystal Cooksey and her husband, Michael; great-grandchildren Cash Shivers, Jay Freeman, Julia Freeman, Carson Cooksey, Cahan Cooksey, and Nolan William Freeman; sisters, Wanda Faye Cain and her husband, Olan, Carol Griffin and her husband, Jimmy, and Sue Edge and her husband, Buddy; and many beloved nieces and nephews. A celebration of this great woman’s life will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, March 22 at Holly Grove Baptist Church, 494 County Line Road South, Livingston, TX 77351. Interment will be at Holly Grove Cemetery.
