Teddy Strange

Teddy Ray “Ted” Strange (77) of Pasadena, Texas, passed away peacefully into the arms of his Savior on February 20, 2023, surrounded by his loving family. Teddy was born in 1945 in Port Arthur, Texas, the third of seven children to John Richard and Beulah Strange. He grew up in La Porte, TX and attended La Porte High School where he graduated in 1963. Teddy married the love of his life, Janice Brown, on August 14, 1964 and the couple lived in Pasadena, TX for over 50 years throughout their marriage. Teddy and Janice had two children, Suzanne Rae and Mark Kevin, and Teddy had a nearly 60 year-long career in various aspects of construction and maintenance as a pipefitter and in HVAC. Teddy was a family man and a friend to all, always helping those in need and spending time with his children and grandchildren in the outdoors, camping, at the beach, river, lake, or wherever his adventures would take him. He was a jack-of-all-trades and a master of all of them, but some of his favorite hobbies included: gardening, building just about anything you could imagine, playing outside with the kids, singing gospel tunes off-key, Senior Olympics basketball, fishing, golf, and most recently, pickleball. Teddy was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Beulah Strange. He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Janice Strange; siblings Johnny Strange, Tommy Strange, Kathy Kilgore, Fay Strange, Kenneth Strange, and Chad Strange; children Suzanne Simpson and Mark Strange; grandchildren Katie, Timothy, Joshua, Allison, and Samantha; great grandson Payton, and numerous nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. Teddy was known by all as “the hardest worker you’ll ever meet”, who had a keen but silly sense of humor, loved life, and loved people even more. If Teddy were here today, he would tell us to work hard, laugh, and love each other well. May we honor his legacy by doing just that.
