Sybil Criner

Sybil, beloved mother, daughter, and sister went to be with our Lord on Sunday, September 12, 2021 in Kingwood, Texas. Sybil was born in Fort Stockton, Texas on July 8,1951, where she grew up and attended school along with her siblings Donald “Bo”, Linda, Georganna “Debbie”, and Leroy. She was a medical assistant by trade and was well loved by co-workers, friends, and family. She rarely met a stranger and had a smile for everyone. She was known to be caring, friendly, and compassionate. She loved her children and supported them in every way possible. Sybil had a tight knit group of friends and loved them very much. She loved her family and enjoyed spending time being a part of long conversations and really investing in her relationships. Sybil was not a rich woman but she was rich in relationships. She was able to touch lives like no other. Sybil loved to cook. It was one of many ways to show her family and friends that she cared. No one was going to go hungry. It was her act of service and her favorite way to bless her family. She would always pre pare a large feast on holidays and special occasions. On Thanksgiving she would make the best cornbread dressing. Some of our fondest memories were when the family would cook together. If you know Sybil then you know she was famous for her Goulash. She and our Aunt Lisa would always prepare that dish for us. Sybil was always up early for the children to have a hot breakfast before running of to school. She would make Holly her Cream of Wheat, pancakes for B.J. and oatmeal for Yvonne. But nothing could beat the weekend breakfast. No one ever missed a full course dinner. She was a domestic Queen. She loved her family and loved them well. Sybil was a grandmother affectionately referred to as Granny. She thoroughly enjoyed her time spent with each and every grandchild and had lots of stories and great recall of all of their stories they loved to tell their Granny. Sybil had the fortunate task of taking care and spending time with each of her grandchildren. She loved to tell the story of when Cydney would tell her that her dad would say “Get on the ground!” as he is now a retired police officer. She loved to listen to Cydney play her cello and various other musical instruments. Jacob kept “Granny” busy when he was little getting into everything and when he was grown, he also loved to play music for his Granny. Sybil loved to attend games at school where Aubrie would perform with her dance team as often as she could. When she would spend time with Aubrie they would get snow cones, McDonalds and watch COPS. She enjoyed going to lunch with Hannah whenever she could. She would get so nervous watching Hannah do her tumbling and flipping. Hannah is fearless…She even talked her Granny into doing a cartwheel and she did it! When Hannah was much younger, Granny loved playing baby dolls with Hannah and would line them all up and make Granny feed the babies and change their “poppers” {diapers}. Sybil loved her memories of the beach with her family. Sybil also belonged to an elite group of women called “The Real Housewives of Community Drive”. She loved the ladies that lived on Community Drive and even though most of them moved away they always remained close until her passing. Ladies you all know who you are and she loved each and every one of you! Most especially, Sybil loved the Lord. She took great relief in scripture and knowing one day she would be with the Lord in heaven. Sybil will always be here in our hearts, minds, and special memories. No one could ever take her place as she was a truly remarkable woman that has touched all of our lives in a special and meaningful way.
