Sandra McFadden

Sandra grew up in the Heights, graduated from Reagan Senior High and enjoyed telling her competitive grandkids that she was captain of her bowling team. She was an avid cook, reader, and gardener, but her greatest love was people. She had the heart of a servant, never met a stranger, she was kind and compassionate to all. While her priority was caring for her family, she spent many years managing school cafeterias, where she served and was loved by children and faculty alike. In retirement, she soaked up the grandchildren and was the official “timer” when Billy watered the garden! She is survived by her devoted husband of 60 years, Billy McFadden, her children Duane McFadden and wife Ann, Lori Polan and husband Troy, Kelli Smith and husband Roy Bennett and honorary daughter Jill Lemons, as well as her brothers George and Johnny Shepherd. She will be remembered fondly by her grandchildren: Josh Vaughn and wife Nicole, Matt McCartney and wife Michelle, Seth VaughnHuffer and husband Trever, Jordan McCartney and Bethany, Ethan McCartney and wife Lindsey, Andrew Vaughn and wife Drina, Emily Harper and husband Michael, Jacob McFadden, Bryce Polan, Christina Haynes and husband Bryce, Kendall Ouellette and husband Deven, and Kelsey Taylor. She is also survived by her great-grandchildren: Kaitlyn, Abby, Alan, Nola, and Rhys Vaughn; McKenna, Court, Beau, Christian, Greyson, Conrad, and Colt McCartney; Riley Ketterey, Hunter Harper, Karlyn and Laken Haynes; Weston and Everly Ouellette. She is preceded in death by her parents, GA and Tessie Shepherd, sisters JoAnn Bigby, Jamie Sue & Carol Jean Shepherd, and great-grandson Jordy McCartney. Her memory will be cherished. In fact, most of her work career was spent managing school cafeterias. She spoke fondly of those years stating, "That was a great job, I loved it!"
