Paul Begnaud

We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Paul Andre Begnaud, who left us on Monday May 18, 2026 at the age of 69. Paul shared 20 wonderful and loving years of marriage with his wife, Dominique De Saedeleer, building a life together in Belgium, Nigeria, and Magnolia, Texas. He was loved by family, friends and the community. Born in Dallas, Texas. Pableaux, as he was known to many friends, was born to a true Southern lady, Mary Jane Simmons Begnaud, and a French-speaking Cajun father, John William (Bill) Begnaud. He grew up in Lafayette, Louisiana and later moved to Houston, Texas. Paul excelled in track and field in high school. He attended Texas A&M University and graduated from Sul Ross University in Alpine, Texas. He fell in love with far West Texas and began working in the booming oil fields there. The Exxon Corporation relocated Paul and his family to Houston during the oil bust of 1981, where he traded being a drilling company man for an office position. For the next 33 years (1982-2015), his work with ExxonMobil carried him all over the world. He traveled over 50 countries and had a career he absolutely loved. Paul was an avid shooter, hunter, and fisherman. Someone who enjoyed almost anything related to the outdoors. He relished new adventures, hunting with the same group of friends for nearly 30 years. Paul said that the 70-mile, seven-day, kayaking trips down the Pecos River were some of his fondest adventures. He is survived by his wife, Dominique De Saedeleer Begnaud, of Magnolia, Texas, and son Dominique Jr. Van den Bogaert and his partner Tinne Thijsbaert, granddaughter Féline Van den Bogaert, and mother-in-law Lieve De Saedeleer, all of Emblem, Belgium. Paul is also survived by his sister, Denise Begnaud Watson, and her family: Ted Watson, Mary D. Watson and her son Theo, Al Watson and Atchaporn French and their daughter Charlie, all of Colorado. His brother John Begnaud and wife Jeanne Begnaud of San Angelo, and their children all of Texas: Jennifer and Gregg Moots and children Brekken and Everly of Plano; Joanna and Jordan Click and children Sidnee, Averi and Ben of Greenwood; Jacqui and Cody Mobley and children Georgie and Liam of Menard; and Jayme and Mathew Komechak and their children T.J. and Wyatt of Ozona. Paul’s great nieces and nephews adored him and loved spending time with their Uncle Paul. A memorial service will be held on July 18, 2026, at Magnolia Funeral Home, Magnolia, Texas, 811 South Magnolia Blvd, at 1:30 PM. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Kindful Health Hospice and donations can be made to them in lieu of flowers.
