Megan Bohlen

Megan Grace Bohlen, age 25, of Magnolia, TX passed away peacefully at home on September 13, 2025, following a defiant battle with cancer, a battle that was unable to quench Megan’s resolute character or her vibrant spirit. Megan lived this life on her own terms, guided by her faith. Those who knew Megan will remember her for her kind and loving heart, great listening skills, grounded advice, and being a true friend. She was a shining light in the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her adventure on this earth was one marked by love, humor, compassion, and faith. Megan’s compassion led her to volunteer for many cancer research studies in the hopes of helping those whose paths will follow hers. Megan was born in Webster City, Iowa and relocated to Cypress, Texas in 2001 with her parents. She attended Ault and Swenke Elementary Schools, Salyards Middle School, and Cypress Ranch High School. Throughout middle and high school Megan was a talented cello player, both in school and in the Kingwood Pops Community Orchestra. After high school graduation in 2018, Megan began studying computer science at Tarleton State University in Stephenville, TX. She was actively involved in the St. Luke’s Episcopal Church student organization in Stephenville, TX while attending college. During middle school, Megan became an avid player of video games and often sketched characters from games she played. Megan joined many online communities with shared interests and developed many close friendships, some lasting more than a decade. Some of these friends, whom she had never met in person, travelled hundreds of miles to visit Megan during the last few weeks of her life. Megan was also an avid reader, and many remember her as always having a book in her hand, ready to discuss what she was reading. Megan’s first love, though, was always animals, especially her cats. Megan is survived by her parents, Todd Bohlen and Tonya Aldridge of Magnolia, TX; her beloved cats, Mabel and Solstice; her grandparents, Colleen Aldridge of Ankeny, IA, Tom Bohlen of Fort Dodge, IA; aunts and uncles, Kendra Wignall (Jake) of Ankeny, IA, Laura Lloyd (Darrin) of Stratford, IA, Emily Weber (Richard) of Rapid City, SD. She also leaves many cousins, great uncles and aunts, extended family, and friends that will miss her. Megan was preceded in death by her grandparents, Kenn Aldridge, Carol Bohlen; uncle, Andrew Bohlen; great-grandparents Glenn and Theresa Bohlen, John and Doris Grimshaw, Henry and Dorothy Aldridge, Ray and Lenora Miller. Visitation will be held on Saturday September 20, 2025, at 9:30am at Magnolia Funeral Home. Funeral service will follow at 10:30am, with Pastor Aaron Richert officiating. Burial will be in Magnolia Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Megan volunteered with a pet rescue during high school and would do anything to help an animal in need.
