Max Horton

Max Lee Horton, Jr. February 13, 1959 - August 29, 2021 A devoted son, husband, brother, father, and friend, Max Lee Horton Jr., of Houston, Texas, passed away suddenly on August 29, 2021. Born in Houston, the oldest of Max Sr. and Helen Horton’s five children, Max graduated from his beloved Cy-Fair High School in 1978. Max would later marry his high school sweetheart, Cari Cox. Max is survived by his wife, Cari; his parents, Max and Helen; siblings Robert, Morris (Lisa), Ron, and Robin (Paul); son Max Lee Horton III and grandchildren Matthew and Madison; step-son Derek; brother-n-law Koby (Jenise); nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, and countless friends and fellow Bobcats. One of Max’s first jobs was a delivery driver for Blue Bell, endearing himself to everyone that wanted an inside track to securing three-gallon tubs of the best flavors. Max possessed an admirably strong work ethic, worked faithfully his entire life, ultimately finding his niche in the electrical field. He was eager to answer any call to help others – no matter the extent of the effort involved. It was rewarding for him to be able to share his electrical knowledge with those that needed assistance, notably going full circle by helping his Dad with repairs around their home. He was also a self-taught car mechanic and with a simple comment like “I need new wiper blades”, Max was eagerly on the task. Ever cheerful, Max never met a stranger and loved visiting with others. Max was strong and lively, and shared that zeal with everyone that was blessed to be around him. Nowhere was that enthusiasm more evident than at the Cy-Fair Bobcat football field. Max played little league ball in Cypress and was a varsity linebacker for the Bobcats, proudly sporting the maroon and white #63 jersey; his sweetheart Cari was in the Bobcat Brigade, making for many decades of fun “Friday Night Lights” for Max and his family. If friends weren’t able to make a game, Max could be counted on to provide live updates, thanks to the marvels of social media. A bigger Bobcat fan didn’t exist – Bobcat Fight Never Dies!! Max was a loyal and active member of Spring Creek Church of Christ and cherished a loving fellowship with his brothers and sisters in Christ. Max’s favorite animal was the wolf; he had a collection of books, photos and figurines and advocated for protection against extinction. He inherited his Dad’s enthusiasm for deer hunting, and liked to sneak away to his Uncle Billie’s place for hunting and outdoor fun. Until we see you again! BFND!
