Marjorie Sutherland

Marjorie Lucille Sutherland of Sweeny, TX (formerly of West Columbia, TX) passed from this mortal life as a widow, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend on February 11, 2015. She was predeceased by her husband of 64 yrs, Robert H. Sutherland, her parents, Winfred W. and Lela Nash, and a brother, Weldon Nash. Marjorie was born in Edna, TX on August 7, 1928. She and Robert were married January 22, 1947. Robert passed away October 2011. To this marriage, she is survived by five children: Cheri (Lyndon) Donnell of Mt. Vernon, TX; Robert Duane (Debbie) Sutherland of West Columbia, TX; Larry (Connie) Sutherland of Rockledge, FL; Donna (Bob) Vickrey of Aledo, IL and Laura (Mike) Brokaw of Milan, IL. Also surviving Marjorie are 14 grandchildren: Michele, Mark, Malena, Kyle, Cade, Michael, Britton, RoseAnn, Amie, Alisa, Ariel, Aaron, Ashley and Amber; 12 great-grandchildren: Nathan, Lexie, Harper, Carter, Corbin, Anna, Isabelle, Sarah, Natasha, Patrick, Clayton and Hunter. Two sisters: Carol Addison of Tomball, TX and Delores Truelove of Pearland, TX; numerous nieces and nephews and two sisters-in-law, Gladys Sutherland of West Columbia, TX and Gwen Hubbard of Caldwell, TX; along with her sisters and brothers in Christ. Marjorie was baptized into the body of Christ as a young teenager and through her faith and devotion in the Lord she was an inspiration to all she came to know. The family would like to acknowledge Dr. Enrique Leal and the Sweeny Hospital staff; the staff at the Fountains Assisted Living Facility for the care given for Marjorie, and to Dr. Gregory Pepper of the Houston Heart Associates in Sugar Land, TX; and A*Med Hospice Care. Visitation will be February 14, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. with the service at 2:30 p.m. at the Church of Christ located at 15th Street and Jackson in West Columbia, TX. Burial will be at the Columbia Cemetary. Officiating the service is David Weeks. In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorial contributions be made to the Gluten Intolerance Group of the Gulf Coast to 202 Sleepy Hollow Dr., Lake Jackson, TX 77566 or to the West Columbia Christian Senior Citizen Center, 629 E. Bernard St, West Columbia, TX 77486. 
