Leonor Zafrane De Gomez

Leonor Zafrane de Gomez passed away peacefully in her sleep on August 31, 2014 and is now in the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ. She was born in Bogota, Colombia on September 17, 1946 and was the loving daughter of the late Luis Eduardo Zafrane and the late Maria Luisa Gonzalez. She was the second of seven children. She was the beloved sister of Carmela, Teresita, Eduardo, Clara, Esperanza, and Lewis. She married the love of her life, Eduardo Gomez and was his devoted wife of fifty years. Together they immigrated to New York where they lived and raised two daughters, Giovanna and Geraldine. They later moved to Magnolia, Texas where she lived out the last fifteen years of her life. Leonor will be remembered for her unending love for her family. She was a woman of great intelligence, resourcefulness, loyalty and strong character. She was blessed with a strong spirit and was a strong fighter, taking head on all things that life brought before her. She had in her a beautiful heart that was equally matched by her flawless beauty. In her heart resided a soul of enormous generosity, kindness and hope. She was a faithful Catholic and was tirelessly devoted to prayer and adoration of Divine Child Jesus and the Sacred Heart of Jesus. She was a most loving and dedicated grandmother. She loved life passionately. She loved to laugh and dance and sing. She loved to travel and to enjoy different foods. She was greatly blessed throughout her life to have fulfilled and enjoyed these gifts and blessings. She was a beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She was and will always be greatly loved, respected and admired. She was preceded in death by her parents, Luis Eduardo Zafrane and Maria Luisa Gonzalez and by her sisters, Carmela Zafrane and Teresita Zafrane. She is survived by her husband Eduardo Gomez, daughter Giovanna Gomez Fly and son in law Frank Fly, daughter Geraldine Gomez Bores and son in law Thomas Bores. Her grandchildren are Andres Sebastian Fly, Giovanna Nadine Fly, Francesca Marie Fly, Thomas Joseph Bores and Michael Bores. She is also survived by her brother Eduardo Zafrane and sister in law Fanny Zafrane, sister Clara Zafrane Wahlstedt and brother in law Mark Wahlstedt, sister Esperanza Zafrane Escobedo and brother in law Edgar Escobedo, and brother Lewis William Zafrane and sister in law Gitte Zafrane. Her nieces and nephews are Claudia Zafrane Morales and German Morales, Edward Zafrane, Mauricio Tamayo, Cesar Augusto Tamayo and Yury Vela, Natasha Escobedo and Emmanuel Palacios, J. Edgar Escobedo and Alejandra Escobedo, George Escobedo, Danielle Zafrane Villhauer and Andriy Villhauer, Louis Zafrane, William Zafrane, Felipe Wahlstedt and Leena Wahlstedt. Her great nieces are Jessica Morales, Catalina Morales, Sofia Escobedo and Camila Tamayo. Esposa y Madre luchadora y valerosa, de profundo sentimiento espiritual y noble corazón; amada por su familia y especialmente apreciada y respetada por sus amistades; ahora, Leonor nos há dejado, con la paz y tranquilidad que el Creador le concedió durante su sueño, al amanecer del 31 de Agosto del 2014. Continúan el camino, su esposo Eduardo Gómez O. y sus hijas Giovanna Gómez Fly y Geraldine Gómez Bores, con sus respectivos descendientes Andrés, Giovanna, Francesca Fly con Thomas y Michael Bores.
