Kay Orange

Sheryl Kay (Stone) Orange, of Spring, Texas passed away Sunday, July 6, in Magnolia, Texas. Sheryl was born in Orange, Texas, the daughter of William and Shirley (Schroeder) Stone. Kay grew up in the Peters Community and attended school in Sealy, Texas, and graduated from Sealy High School in 1978. She married Boyce Dawson Orange, Jr. on December 15, 1990 in Bellville, Texas. Kay had a life-long love for children and studied elementary education at Abilene Christian University, graduating with her BSEd in 1983. She spent most of her career teaching 3, 4, and 5-year olds in Houston ISD. After retiring from teaching, she became an after-school care specialist for Northland Christian Schools. She was a member of Hidden Valley Church of Christ where she was a faithful Bible Class Teacher, member of Ladies Bible Class, and was involved n many outreach efforts to the community. Her hobbies included crocheting, gardening, and crafting of all kinds. She loved Stone Family Hayrides, her mom's Taco Soup, Mexican food of any variety, reading romance novels and watching Hallmark movies. Kay is survived by her husband of 34 1/2 years: Boyce Dawson Orange, Jr. of Spring, Texas; sisters Wanda Gail Owen and her husband, Steve, of Marshall, Texas, Donna Christine Stone of League City, Texas, and Patricia Anne Hyde and her husband, Richard, of Montgomery, Texas; grandchildren Connor Orange, Noah Orange, McKenzie Orange, and Max Roberts; Nephews and Nieces Cory Owen, Amy Raley, Brandy Jackson, Meredith Caldwell, Madison Hyde, Clint Branstetter; Great Nephews and Nieces Everett, Colby, Amelia, Barrett, Charlotte, Sarabeth, Ellis, and Anabella; Step-father Patrick Callahan and numerous beloved uncles, aunts, cousins, and dearest friends. Kay was preceded in death by her parents William "Bill" Stone and Shirley Stone Callahan; grandparents Eskar Carl, Sr., and Annie Odell Stone, and Ernest and Birdie Schroeder, great-grandparents and several aunts and uncles. Throughout her illness, Kay was blessed to be cared for by a wide variety of professional caregivers and dear friends. Special acknowledgements go to Dr. Pheba Zachariah and many specialists and dedicated nurses in the Methodist Healthcare System, Stuart Spoonemoore and his staff from Always Best Care Senior Services, as well as the compassionate staff of The Heights of Magnolia and Heart to Heart Hospice. Additionally, several caring members from Hidden Valley Church of Christ graciously volunteered their time to help care for Kay. And finally, the family gives MVP nods to family friend Stephanie Cox, who exemplified a loving and wholehearted commitment to caring for Kay, and to Luce Hillaire, Kay's favorite caregiver from ABC. The Addison family and staff of Magnolia Funeral Home extend condolences to Kay's family and friends during this difficult time.
