Katharine "Kathy" Pierce

Katharine Lucille (Ray) Pierce, or as her loved ones affectionately called her, "Kathy," bid farewell to this world on December 1, 2023, at the age of 71, in Tomball, Texas. Born in Starkville, Mississippi, Kathy was a shining star who brought warmth and joy to everyone she met. Her journey was filled with laughter, love, and countless unforgettable moments. Kathy, a beacon of positivity, had an incredible zest for life. Her heart overflowed with kindness, and she possessed a strength that seemed to defy all odds. She was the epitome of selflessness and had an unwavering passion for her community. Education played a significant role in Kathy's life. She graduated from King High School and continued her quest for knowledge at Mississippi State University, where she expanded her horizons and embraced new experiences. While Kathy worked her magic at Tomball Intermediate School and North Pointe Intermediate School as a workroom aid, it was her interactions with the little ones that truly brought out her inner child. She adored working with kids, and her infectious enthusiasm created an environment filled with laughter, learning, and countless "ah-ha" moments. When Kathy wasn't shaping young minds, she reveled in a multitude of hobbies that kept her spirit soaring. With a pencil in hand and a creative spark in her eye, she would bring images to life. She found solace in the pages of books, indulged in the lost art of letter writing, and captured breathtaking moments through her camera lens. As a child, she found joy in playing the piano and continued to appreciate music throughout her life. As she grew older, she discovered her culinary prowess, whipping up delectable treats that delighted the taste buds of her loved ones and brought family and friends together to create delicious memories. Kathy cherished nothing more than being with her family and friends, whether strolling along the beach, embarking on thrilling road trips, or soaring high with colorful kites. Kathy leaves behind a trail of love and treasured memories, forever etched in the hearts of her surviving family members. She is survived by her adoring husband, Michael Pierce, her beloved son Matthew Pierce, daughter-in-law Breanna Pierce, and her delightful grandson Zachary Pierce. Kathy also leaves behind her sisters Dorothy Brown, Susan Lopez, Carolyn Peppe, along with their loving spouses, and a host of dearly loved nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She is reunited in spirit with her parents, Dr. James Davis Ray, Jr. and Dorothy Burkett Ray, who have gone before her. Kathy was a woman of immense love, kindness, and warmth. Her selfless nature and optimistic outlook on life touched the hearts of all who knew her. She dedicated herself to her community, leaving an indelible mark on the lives of those around her. While Kathy may have bid us farewell, her spirit will forever remain, leaving a legacy of laughter and love that will continue to brighten our lives. In honor of Kathy's passion for making a difference, contributions can be made to Smile Train, a charity close to her heart that brings smiles to children with cleft palates.
