John Smith

With profound sadness, we announce the passing of John Fredrick Smith, on May 11, 2026, leaving behind a 98-year legacy of love, kindness, & cherished memories. Born to John & Fay Smith in Charleston, South Carolina. John devoted the early years of his life after high school to serving his country and to the well-being of those around him. He was a college graduate from University of Carolina with an Engineering Degree. Throughout his military career, John demonstrated unwavering courage and a deep sense of duty. His service included United States Army, United States Navy, & a Merchant Marine which was a testament to his character, and his legacy as a hero that will be remembered by all who knew him. After his honorable discharge, John moved on with his knowledge from service as an Engineer where he worked for various distributors & breweries from Florida, to Texas, to Arizona, back to Texas, including Coke & Anheuser Bush. During those years, he was a devoted husband and father, always there to offer guidance, tough love, & a hearty laugh. He cherished family gatherings, his presence brought warmth & joy to those around him. John had many passions in life of camping, being on the boat, throwing darts, watching sports such as baseball, football, & Nascar. You could always find him on his computer playing games or finding some extremely humorous jokes that he would recite and laugh at ever so hard. Through the years you could always find him building or constructing some structure, especially after Randy came along which also brought on a lot of head scratching moments and conflict. John is preceded in death by, his parents, John & Fay; Brother, Jack; Wife, Juanita; Daughter & only Babygirl, Candi. He is survived by his Son-in-Law, Randy Scott; Granddaughter, Stephanie (Robert) Roe; Sister, Frances Ann Bower; Great-Grandchildren, EmaLeigh Wright (Parker); Jayden Roe; Chase Roe; Brooklynn Roe; & extended family. He will be deeply missed, but his legacy of service, love, and sacrifice will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to have known him. A private service to celebrate his long-lived life will be held to honor John Frederick Smith. “Though your voice is silent, your love still speaks in the way we live, the way we love, and the way we remember. You are not gone — you are simply woven into the fabric of who we are.” The Addison family and staff of Magnolia Funeral Home extend condolences to the Smith family during this difficult time.
