John "Johnny" G Hunnicutt

"Only the best will do" was a motto and standard Johnny lived by. Johnny worked 26 years for one company, leaving only for 7 months in 2000 to work for a similar company that gave him opportunities to travel. After only 7 months he resigned and went back to work for his former employer, where he stayed until he retired in 2014 at the age of 63. Johnny was well versed in metallurgical applications, AWS & ASME codes and recognized in his industry, as an "Expert" in welding specification, as well as maintenance and repair of equipment; at large industrial accounts, fabricators and maintenance and repair service companies. He recruited, trained and motivated multiple sales teams and technical staff in the US and Canada; sharing his vast knowledge on welding materials and procedures. Shortly after he retired, he moved to Montgomery, Texas. Where he purchased a home on acreage, grew a garden and adopted two dogs that he thought of as his four-legged children; Max and Maggie. He loved to take them on morning walks and in the afternoons several times a week he would take them to the park in Magnolia to run and play and swim in the pond. On the way home he would stop at McDonalds and get each of them a cheese burger. He also loved to take his fishing boat out to Lake Conroe and fish and just cruise around the lake with the dogs. Johnny also enjoyed a cold Miller light on draft at our local Mexican restaurant. On occasion he would ask, for just a half fill, just so we could finish our conversation. He always asked me about my day, and if I was meeting my sales goals at work. He expressed such genuine interest in all my achievements and all things important to me. He wanted to hear about my son and his business, and any updates on my granddaughter. Johnny shared stories of his children and grandchildren and it was so apparent how much he loved them and how proud he was of all their accomplishments. In our final chapter together, I was able to introduce him to my future husband, he had very high standards on how a man should treat a lady. I was so happy that he immediately liked him and told me how happy he was that I found a great guy to be happy with. I will forever be grateful for God allowing our paths to cross. You will be remembered for the loving gentle man, who stepped in and loved me like a father, when I needed it most in my life.
