Ione Stonehocker Kehoe

Ione Elizabeth Smith Stonehocker Kehoe, 94, of Magnolia TX passed away at the Sunrise Senior Living Center, Katy TX on July 11, 2024, peacefully and at rest. Ione was born in the Paulina Farmhouse on Lily Leaf Farm, Paulina IA. As she grew up she loved to sing, compete in races and showed animals through 4-H. She met her husband, William Stonehocker at Morningside College. During her life she was involved with the PTA, Girl Scouts, worked the phone lines at Sears, owned a candle business called Candle Lane and worked as a secretary. In addition to all of that, we were blessed as our parents took us on 2 week vacations every year. We saw almost every state as our family was scattered from New Hampshire to Alaska. They loved to take us camping, picking berries and fishing. They also knew how important it was that we accepted Jesus as our Lord and Savior. After 51 years of marriage with many moves and lots of travel, William passed away. In 2006 Ione and Arnold Kehoe were married. They loved to travel also. Arnold passed away in 2018 in Katy TX. Through William Stonehocker she is survived by Sharon Goick (husband Douglas), Dawn Wheeler (husband Eddie), and Lisa L. Schropp. There are 8 grandchildren April McComas (husband Daniel), Jamie Smith (husband Kyle), Nathan McAtee, Julie McAtee, Stephanie Rush (husband Andrew) and Kimberly Schropp, Michelle Carrejo (husband Nicholas) and Blake Johnson (wife Samantha) She also had 10 great grandchildren. Alex McComas, Lindsay McComas, Ryan Smith, Owen Smith, Erik E. Weeks, Oscar H. Rush, Neil M.Rush, Aiden Carrejo, Ian Carrejo, Zelda Johnson. Through Arnold Kehoe she is survived by Elizabeth Goodyear, Mary Holland (husband Robert), Charlotte Prieve, Barbara Somali (husband Morris), Patricia Meadows (husband David), Ted Kehoe (wife Annette), Theresia Gideon (husband Tim). The families have 17 grand children and 18 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her 2 brothers 6 sisters and their spouses. They are Clarence Smith (wife Lucille), Lucille Sullivan (Husband Danny), Russell Smith (wife Frances), Erma Sheley (husband Leroy), Maurene Johnson (husband Ralph), Arlene Lamont (husband Wilmer), Ruth MacPherson (husband Stephen), Ellen Rohwer (husband Paul). Ione was the last of her generation. Her youngest daughter Denise Kay Stonehocker Johnson passed 2021. Ione will be laid to rest at the Houston National Cemetery next to William Stonehocker. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made in honor of Ione to your favorite charity or local organization.
