Harlo Atchetee

Harlo Berndt Atchetee, 92, passed away peacefully on September 19, 2025 at his home in Montgomery, TX. Harlo was born May 20,1933 to Gilles “Frenchie” and Ingeborg (Berndt) Atchetee in Danevang, TX. He then lived in El Campo, TX, Grand Junction, CO, and Montgomery, TX. His heart was anchored in his beloved Danevang, TX, where he spent every possible moment as a child spoiled by his Papa, Aunts and Uncles who doted on him at the farm. It is fitting Danevang will be his place of rest. Harlo was born with a unique name that fit his personality. If you met him, you did not forget him. He was genuine to the core, rough around the edges, with a beautiful soft heart. He had a captivating contagious spirit and would share a story, a firm handshake, a hug, a smile, and leave you laughing whether family, friend, or stranger. He loved Jesus, his family, Jeeping in Colorado, Jet Skiing on Lake Conroe in his Wrangler Jeans, flying with brother Dale in his airplane, NASCAR, and riding along with the police. He fully enjoyed building his dream home and workshops with Steve Clayton in Crown Ranch, where he was the Honorary Mayor, and made the entire community his family. He discovered his passion for trucking at an early age and never waivered from it. He was a truck driver through and through and loved every day of it. He was a member of LoneStar Cowboy Church where he found his forever church home. Harlo is survived by his wife of 45 years, Rhonda Motal Atchetee, daughter-in-law Alice Atchetee, daughters Sheila Mae (James) Herrington of El Campo and Laura Gay Cunningham of Houston, his Grandchildren Diana Atchetee, Sarah (Josh) Barosh, Jake (Haley) Herrington, Carrie (Aaron) Janssen, and Candace Cunningham, as well as three great grandchildren, Emma Jo, Wyatt, and Katie. He is also survived by his brothers Dale (Gayla) Atchetee of Victoria, TX and Evon (Linda) Atchetee, of El Campo, TX, as well as the Motal family. Harlo is preceded in death by his parents, his son Dixon Harlo Atchetee, and sister Eileen (Eugene) Volcik. Services will be held on Tuesday, September 23, 2025, at 2PM at Magnolia Funeral Home, 811 Magnolia Blvd, Magnolia, TX, with Pastor Amber Noblit officiating. A reception will follow at Harlo and Rhonda’s home. Burial will be held on Wednesday, September 24, 2025, at 11AM at Danevang Lutheran Cemetery in Danevang TX. Lunch will follow in the adjacent Community Hall. Pallbearers: Craig Atchetee, Josh Barosh, Steve Clayton, Jake Herrington, Chad Motal, and Trace Motal. Honorary Pallbearers are the Neighbors of Crown Ranch. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation to the Danish Heritage Preservation Society, P.O.
