Gisel Hancock

Gisel Rodriguez Hancock, age 56, of Magnolia, Texas, passed away August 3rd, 2025 surrounded by her loving family after a courageous seven-year battle with cancer. She was born in Matamoros, Mexico to Sergio and Carmen Rodriguez. At an early age she and her family moved to Houston, Texas where she planted roots and lived most of her life. On February 24th, 1990 she was married to Gregory Scott Hancock, her dear husband of 35 years. Together they built a family she was endlessly proud of. She was the loving mother of three children: Joshua, Nicole, and Jacob, and the cherished grandmother of Sofaia and Aeryzea. She poured her heart into her family, and her greatest joy was being both a Momma and a Gigi. Above all, Gisel’s life was defined by her unwavering faith in and obedience to Christ. She lived each day with a heart full of gratitude and trust in God, and her faith was the foundation of her strength throughout her journey with cancer. She inspired others by the way she clung to hope, prayed without ceasing, worshiped and sang through adversity, and shared God’s love with those around her even until her last days. For 37 years, she worked faithfully as a dispatcher, a profession where her steady nature, attention to detail, and servant’s heart visibly shone through. She was deeply respected by her colleagues and known for her reliability, dedication, and ability to solve problems under pressure. Her commitment to her work reflected her desire to serve others with excellence. It is no understatement that she knew the roads of Houston like the back of her hand, a skill she used to help others daily. Gisel was also known for her creativity and gifted hands. She loved crocheting and candle-making, and through these crafts she poured thoughtfulness and beauty into everything she created. Just as with her faith and family, she shared these talents generously, leaving behind cherished and personalized pieces of herself in the lives of those she loved. At home, she was always accompanied by her faithful pet sidekick, Bobo, who brought her comfort and joy. Gisel will be remembered for her faith, kindness, resilience, and the way she made everyone around her feel loved. Whether through her warm heart-to-heart hugs or her selfless ability to be there for others at a moment's notice, she touched countless lives and left behind a legacy of love and compassion. She is survived by her husband, three children, two grandchildren, her parents, two siblings, nephews and nieces, mother-in-law, and daughter-in-law. She was preceded in death by her brother, Dante Rodriguez. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, Aug 23rd, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. at Magnolia Funeral Home in Magnolia, Texas, with public visitation beginning at 1:00 p.m. A Celebration of Life will follow at Magnolia Bible Church at 4:00 p.m., where family and friends will gather to share memories and honor her life. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made directly to her family. Her love will live on through her children and grandchildren, and she will be deeply missed by all who knew her. She now rests in the arms of God our Father in Heaven where she awaits for her family and loved ones to join her in peace everlasting.
