George "Russell" Martin

George Russell Martin, age 84 of Magnolia, was born to Alfred James and Eloise Martin in Beaumont, Texas. He graduated from Fannett High School in 1958 and continued his education at Lamar University, earning a Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering at Southern Methodist University. Russell proudly served his country as a reserve officer in the United States Marine Corps. His career in electrical engineering took him to Rockdale, Texas, where he met the love of his life, Fran, and they married on August 2, 1980, embarking on a journey of love and devotion that lasted over four decades. After providing for his family for many years as a General Contractor, Russell and Fran found their forever home in Magnolia, where they enjoyed working together in real estate. The two built their own home in the country, surrounded by ponds and trees and enjoying their little slice of heaven. In his semi-retired life, Russell thoroughly enjoyed doing anything on his property that meant he could use his red Kubota tractor. Most of all, he enjoyed holding hands with Fran and watching movies and enjoying his time with his family. On December 18, 2024, Russell entered into the arms of his Savior and reunited with his ancestors in Paradise. He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, and brothers, James and Eugene, all of whom he deeply missed. Russell is survived by his wife, Fran, and their six beloved children: Amy Serpas Kristynik and husband Jerome, Amy Martin, Jeff Serpas and wife Jennifer, Brian Martin, Karen Serpas Garduno and husband Erik, and Kristin Martin Christ and husband Bryan. He was the proud grandfather of eleven grandchildren: Sara Ferraro, Preston Martin, Dalton Serpas, Jeremy Kristynik, Drake Serpas, Emily Kristynik, Kylie Garduno, Gabby Christ, Jeremy Christ, Charlotte Christ, and Khloe Garduno. His legacy continues with his great-grandchildren, Giovanni Martin and Melody Ann Serpas. He is also survived by his brothers, Lloyd Martin (and wife Sue) and Rogers Martin and his sister-in-laws Melba and Zona Martin. Russell leaves behind a legacy of love, forgiveness, and faith. He would want everyone to know that he is alive in Christ and that sadness should be replaced with love for one another. His life was a testament to these values, which he practiced exceptionally well.
