Elias "Lee" Moran

Elias was born in Lockhart, Texas and preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Antonia Saenz Moran. Also preceding in death was his son, Michael David, 1963-1964 and three of his seven siblings. Born into humble beginnings, he attended primary and secondary schools in the South San Antonio School District. Early on in his academics, one of his high school mathematics teachers challenged Lee by entering him in a math contest. Finalists would travel to an advanced mathematics placement exam on the campus of the University of Texas, Austin. As one of the finalists, his vision of becoming an engineer began to materialize. Lee was driven and did not shy away from any and all after school jobs to save for college tuition; working at the local grocery store, neighborhood barbershops and delivering newspapers, he saved every penny to attend college. Nothing discouraged him, he entered San Antonio College and successfully transferred all earned college credits to Texas A&I University, currently Texas A&M University, Kingsville. Lee fulfilled his dream; he attained his engineering degree in multi disciplines. Upon receiving his Professional license from the State of Texas, together with a gift from his father-in-law, Lee established E. S. Moran Consulting Engineer, Inc., San Antonio, Texas. Quite a full circle of events, he was destined to serve his community by providing professional engineering and scientific work in Electrical, Mechanical, and Civil engineering. He fondly recalled his college days at Texas A&I, as he still possesses his engineering equipment, such as his slide rule, tripod, and theodolite. Lee’s projects included New and Rehab, many turn-key designs for San Antonio and local city school districts, parks and recreation facilities, and residential subdivisions. Most notable projects included the VIA Metropolitan Transit San Antonio, Texas; the Brownsville Urban System (BUS), Brownsville, Texas; and MEP designs for the Los Angeles, California Port Authority, The Queen Mary. In recognition of his many engineering projects in various fields of transportation, E. S. Moran P.E., R.P.L.S. accomplishments were touted by a stunning resume and a brief biography which was submitted to the United States Department of Transportation, Federal Transit Administration, Washington D.C., to memorialize his accomplishments. In the year 2050, twenty-five years from now, his accomplishments will celebrate the nations’ many transportation advancements. His personal pride and joy was his wife of 65 years, Mary Alice of San Antonio, Texas. The dynamic-duo worked together to build a prosperous engineering company and together raising their two children, Angela Marie Moran-Kravetz of Washington DC., and Stephen A. Moran of Magnolia, Texas. Lee was involved with his children, he attended many band and choir concerts, and celebrated winning high school and college football games. The family traveled together, in the hot Texas summers they spent time at South Padre Island, Mexico, and Europe. Lee’s pride was noticeable when his children graduated from college; Angela graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree from Texas Tech University and a Master’s degree from the University of Nevada, Reno and, Stephen graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Texas, San Antonio, Texas. Lee served on the Texas A&I University Alumni Board of Directors. He was also a member of several professional engineering organizations and held various offices, with the Texas Society of Professional Engineers (TSPE); the Texas Society of Civil Engineers (TSCE); the Professional Engineers in Private Practice (PEPP); the American Society of Refrigeration, Air Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE). An intimate close family Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on March XXX, 2025. Lee is survived by his beloved wife, Mary Alice, his children, Angela Moran-Kravetz and Stephen Moran. Always referred to as Grandpa Lee, he has two granddaughters, Sarah E. Kravetz from Washington DC., and Justine Moran-Beasley, her husband Joey Beasley from Porter, Texas., and his two great grandchildren, Channing Marie, and Carter Daniel Beasley. Our sincerest appreciation is extended to Father Christopher Nguyen, Pastor of Saint Matthias the Apostle Catholic Church, Archdiocese of Galveston -Houston, Texas; the staff of the Hospice Center at Herman Memorial Hospital, the Woodlands; the Memory Care Facility, and the Magnolia Funeral Home who met all our needs and Lee’s last wishes. While Lee is no longer with us physically, we know that he’s in the arms of our Lord Jesus Christ. We believe that our Lord welcomed Lee with open arms, “Welcome Home Lee – you led an honorable faith filled life and gifted your wife, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren with love, respect and an excellent work ethic.” We have peace of mind and a full heart knowing that Grandpa Lee is watching over us as we continue his legacy of living a life of love for our Lord Jesus Christ. “Welcome Home Grandpa Lee!” The Addison family and staff of Magnolia Funeral Home extend condolences to Lee's family and friends during this difficult time.
