Mr. Don A. Page

Don Allen Page, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, went to be with his Lord on October 26, 2018, at the age 72. Don was born May 30, 1946, in Houston, Texas. He was the ninth child of nine children. He loved to joke with others that his parents stopped having children when they reached perfection after having him. Don graduated from George Washington Carver High School, and then he enlisted in the United States Air Force and was stationed at Tan Son Nhut Air Base in Vietnam. He proudly served his country for four years and rose to the rank of Sergeant. His military service accommodations included National Defense Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign, Small Arms Expert Medal, Air Force Good Conduct Medal, and Vietnam Service Medal. After returning from Vietnam, he was stopped and issued a speeding ticket by a Houston Police officer who recommended that he apply to the Police Academy. Soon after, he joined HPD Academy Class #40. After completing the academy, he married Joyce Marie Babineaux on April 4, 1970, at Our Lady of Assumption Catholic Church in Carencro, Louisiana. He was a dedicated Houston Police Officer and loved his HPD family. He retired after serving 42 years. He wes a lifetime member of the Veteran of Foreign Wars Post 6010, and he served as a Junior Vice Commander for the Houston Police Post. Don lived his life with a servant's heart. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. Don's service to others was evident with his long-time commitment to St. Mary of the Purification Catholic Church in Houston, Texas, St. Matthias the Apostle Catholic Church in Magnolia, Texas, the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, and the Houston Police Department Blue Santa Program. Friends often sought his advice or help in personal, legal or financial issues. Don lived every day putting God first. His jovial laugh and sense of humor warmed those around him. Playing tennis was his passion, and his highlight was competing in the United States Police Olympics. From his older brothers, he developed a love of horse racing early on which he said was in his blood. One of his dreams was to own a racehorse named Eat 'Em Up Paper Cup. Living next door to his daughter, son-in-law, and granddaughter was his greatest joy. He loved documenting his family history and showing his photo albums to anyone who would listen. He also enjoyed spending time with others whether it was during vacations or hosting gatherings with his nieces, nephews, godchildren, extended family, and friends. Don's mission was to ensure that his family legacy continued by touching many along the way and leaving fond and lasting memories. He is preceded in death by his father Joseph Henry Page Sr., mother, Mary Lillian Arceneaux Page and his siblings, Pamela, Walter, Irene, Henry Jr., Benjamin, and Dorothy. Don is survived by his wife of forty-eight years, Joyce Page, his brother, Johnny, sister, Betty, his daughter, Stacy Page Alexander, his son-in-law, Lance Alexander, his granddaughter, the apple of his eye, Kalee Alexander, and a host of nieces, nephews, godchildren, extended family, and friends.
