Dale Thompson

Dale Lewis Thompson, age 77, of Magnolia, Texas, passed away on October 21, 2023 in his home. He was born in July of 1946, in Lovelady, Texas. Dale had a heart the size of Texas and then some. His love & kindness touch the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing him. Nothing could compare to his love for his family and friends. Close behind were his cherished memories of incredible times shared with them. Besides his family, one of Dale’s pride and joys was his beautiful Chevelle, symbolizing his passion and craftsmanship. Dale’s free spirit could often be witnessed in his singing of favorite 50s tunes while cruising the open roads. He was a man who enjoyed testing his luck, whether on family poker nights, at a casino destination, or even surpassing the speed limit to try out a new engine. He spent much of his life working at the Port of Houston, working his way up the ladder and making friends that lasted a lifetime. He took extreme pride in being a prominent ILA Local Union #1530 member. More than anything, his love and support for those close to him, including all his animals near & far, was one of his best attributes. His comforting voice, warm hugs, and joyful laugh will be forever missed. May he rest in peace & be reunited with his loved ones in heaven. Dale is survived by his beloved wife, Kathleen Elizabeth Thompson; his daughter, Felicia Thompson Barcelona, and son-in-law, Tommy Barcelona; his granddaughters, Cloie Noel Barcelona and Isabella Bliss Barcelona; his son, Gregory Keith Self, and daughter-in-law, Karen Ann Self; his grandson, Gregory Keith Self Jr., and granddaughter, Eliana Gabrielle Self; his sister, Ruby Cummings, and brother-in-law, Ron Cummings; his sister, Darlene Webb, and brother-in-law, Ed Webb; his brother, John Mize, and sister-in-law, Brenda Mize; his sister, Billie Heins, and brother-in-law, Curtis Heins; his brother, Matt Mize, and sister-in-law, Kathy Mize; his brother, Clyde Mize; his brother, Curtis Thompson, and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews and one great- grandson. Dale was preceded in death by his mother, Katie Faye Mize; his sister, Nancy Mize; his nephew, Steven Ray Tinnin; his great-nephew, Laine Schulz; and four infant angel nieces and nephews.
