Carol Montgomery

Carol Fay Goodson Montgomery, age 77, of Brenham, Texas passed away on Wednesday, June 30, 2021. Carol was preceded in death by her father Raymond Desire “Cotton” Goodson, mother Mary Lee Allcorn Goodson, infant sister Kathryn Dale Goodson and brother Billy Joe Goodson. Carol is survived by her daughter Kathryn Dale Montgomery, son J.J. Caswell and wife Laura, children of former husband Wayne Lee Montgomery - Tommy Montgomery, David Montgomery, and Lisa (Montgomery) Sellers, grandchildren Justin Montgomery, Jessi (Caswell) Norvell, Dylan, Hannah and Cooper Caswell, longtime friend Julie Maffei, aunt Myrtis Goodson Pettijohn, brother Dwight Goodson and wife Linda, brother Terry Goodson, sister-in-law Esther Cronin Goodson and many cousins, nieces and nephews. Carol was born in Houston, Texas on June 17, 1944. The oldest of five children, she was affectionately nicknamed “Sissy” by the family. Her interests as a teenager included homemaking skills and she was involved in the FHA throughout her high school years. This carried over to adulthood as she enjoyed cooking delicious family meals and baking. She always kept a neat and tidy home and welcomed family and friends. Other interests included country and western dancing to carpentry. She was never one to shy away from a challenging project. The last few years she enjoyed summers spent with her grandson Justin. They enjoyed many activities, especially games like checkers and double shutter. Carol celebrated her most recent birthday on a fun and exciting trip to Branson, Missouri with her daughter and longtime friend. Throughout her life, she demonstrated strength, independence, determination and loving kindness to family and friends. Memories of her sweet smile, warm hugs and girlish laughter will be cherished. A public memorial service will be held at a date to be determined. The memorial will be followed by a private family interment at Goodson Prairie Cemetery. The Addison family and staff of Magnolia Funeral Home extend condolences to Carol's family and friends during this difficult time. No services will be held through the funeral home.
