Barbara Anderson

Barbara married Joyce Ray Morrow from a Rangerville Tx farming family in 1958. They settled in Weslaco and her husband also went to work for McManus Produce Company. Their first child Judith Sue was born on grandpa Ernest’s birthday in 1959. Son Mark Ray was born in 1962. She lost her husband Joyce to a car wreck in 1971. Barbara married Jerry Anderson on July 5, 1973 at sister Diana Grant’s home in Weslaco. The new combined family included Jerry’s children Cynthia Ann and Paul Reed. Our new home was in the big city Houston Texas. My mother was a devoted fulltime wife and mother. Even though it was no Brady Bunch, we survived the seventies ready to face the world. Paul and Mark hit the road chasing their dreams while Cindy & I went to school and married. As empty-nesters, Barbara and Jerry moved to be close to the Living Stones church in Alvin. Following their commitment to share the Good News of salvation, they began a community outreach ministry. Together with dear friends Rosemary & Sam they took the Kids on the Move bus & crew into apartment and trailer park areas to share the gospel with underprivileged children and youth. They shared their joy treats and bible lessons as well as transportation for the kids to church. Mother created a journal with photographs of the events and of each child sitting on the bus to church. I have no doubt that she prayed for each of those kids and their families, and that God worked through them to bring many into the fellowship of salvation thru Christ. Preceding Barbara in death are both boys, Paul Reed Anderson and Mark Ray Morrow. Surviving family members include her husband Jerry Anderson, daughter Cynthia Pyle, and her children Tamera, Casondra and Derek and their children. Also, daughter Judith Luhning, and her children Jaclyn Diane Medcalf and Faith Danielle Luhning and their children. Mourning the loss of her older sister, in Duck Hill Mississippi is Diana Grant and her family there. Thank you for letting me share my mother’s story with you. God bless and comfort us all.
