Anthony "Tony" Rizzo

We are deeply saddened to share that Anthony “Tony” J. Rizzo passed away on July 3, 2026, at the age of 85. Tony was dearly loved by his family and friends and will be remembered for his kindness, devotion to family, and willingness to help others. Tony was born in Elizabeth, New Jersey, to Anthony Rizzo and Mary Constanza Rizzo. He grew up in Linden, New Jersey, where he played high school football for the Linden Tigers and was affectionately known by friends as “Tony the Tiger.” He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Vincent. After attending Seton Hall College, Tony served in the US Army where he was stationed in Germany and worked as a power man and mechanic. His military training led to a lifelong career as a diesel mechanic. Tony was a member of the Operating Engineers Union Local 825 with over 60 years of service and retired from Voller’s Construction where he served as the shop foreman for many years. He was also a lifetime member of the BPO Elks and had the distinct privilege of serving as Exalted Ruler of the Clinton Elks. Tony was married to Sandy Rizzo for 63 years. Together, they were proud parents to Bill and Cheryl, who brought great joy to their lives. Tony and Sandy lived in Clinton, New Jersey, for more than 35 years before moving to Texas to be closer to their grandchildren. Tony’s greatest legacy was his family. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, known lovingly as Pop, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He loved cruising and traveling the world, as well as exploring the United States. Tony was a member of Salem Lutheran Church, where he and his wife led pill packing and helped with the trunks for Hearts for Honduras. He was also a member of Tomball AARP, where he spent many happy hours volunteering on community projects supporting veterans and Camp Hope. Tony and Sandy also enjoyed volunteering at local wineries, helping bottle wine and meeting new friends. Tony is survived by his wife, Sandy; his daughter, Cheryl Rizzo, and husband, Dan Kubat; his son, William Rizzo, and wife, Katie; grandchildren, Nicholas Rizzo-Kubat, Ryan Rizzo-Kubat and his wife Laney, Dakota and James Rizzo, Daniel Kubat, wife, Gina, Kristin and husband, Derek Busico. In addition, his grandchildren Jacob and Hannah Kubat. He is also survived by his sister, Ann Ernst; his brother, Joe Rizzo; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces, and nephews.
