Alice Virginia Bonds-Kocian

Alice Virginia (Stewart) Bonds-Kocian was called to join our Lord at 10:30 am on Wednesday, September 18, 2019. She was born in Keith, Grimes County, Texas on November 4, 1940. Alice was preceded in death by her son, Charles Harold Bonds, Jr. and by her mother and father, Willie Stewart and Emma Stewart. She is survived by her husband, David A. Kocian; by her children Carolyn Lynette Bonds Gibbons, and Roy Dennis Bonds; by her stepchildren Jonathan Kocian, Suzanne (Kocian) Hagin and Stephen Brett Kocian; by her grandchildren Christopher Lee Hunt, Corey Lynn Hunt, Clinton Jeffrey Hunt, Chelsie Lynette Hunt, Cody Allen Hunt, Carissa Alice Hunt, Casey Gibbons, Chase Gibbons, Cameron Bonds, Destiny Bonds, Denise Bonds, Willie Roy Bonds, and Ellie Bonds; and by her step-grandchildren Dylan Kocian and Adalyn Marie Hagin; and by her great-grandchildren Alex Humphries, Austin Humphries, Alexis Humphries, Alivia Humphries, Ashland Humphries, Jace Blake Bonds-Garner, Cylas Bonds-Garner and Savauna Hogelin; and her great-great-grandchild Parker Faye Anderson. Alice was a long time resident of Tomball, Texas, but moved back to Grimes County in 2008. In addition to being a wife, mother, devoted grandmother, and friend, she was the owner and operator of National Aviation Services Inc. flight school, a well-known and respected company at Hooks airport. Over a hundred of her instructors and students went on to fly commercially for various airlines and corporate aviation departments. She was the recipient of the 1997 Small Business Award for Outstanding Business Person of the year by the North Harris Montgomery Community College District. Alice was always an avid gardener, and after her retirement from the aviation business, she loved working as a Grimes County Master Gardner, with a love for anything that grows, but especially roses and hydrangeas. Alice was a member of the First Magnolia Church of Magnolia, Texas. She will be sorely missed. Alice will be buried at Magnolia Memorial Gardens Cemetery, after a private family service. The thoughts and prayers of the owners and staff of Magnolia Funeral home are with Alice's family and friends.
