Polly Barringer

After a long health battle, Polly Barringer passed peacefully from this life on September 3, 2023 in her home. Helen Louise Miller was born in Lamesa, Texas to H. B. and Lavoy Miller. Within a few weeks of her birth, influenced by a close family member, Helen became Polly, a nickname which stayed with her for her entire life. Polly was raised in Lamesa, the middle child of 5 children. On June 12, 1970, Polly married “the boy next door,” David Barringer. They were blessed with two children, Brian Edward and Cynthia Diane. Polly was able to spend most of her early marriage as a homemaker. Later on, she joined the work force, first as secretary in both the Klein and Cy-Fair school districts. She subsequently became a project secretary at McDermott International, followed by a similar position with KBR some years later. She and David both retired in 2015 and were able to spend their last years pursuing various adventures, most notably their trip to New England that same year. Polly is predeceased by her father H. B. Miller, mother Lavoy Miller Leach and husband Max Leach, as well as her sister Norma Tuttle and brother Howard “Rusty” Miller, along with her father-in-law Ray Barringer. She is survived by her husband of 53 years, David, children Brian of Houston and Cynthia Blackshear and husband Jason of Cypress, grandchildren Brooke Blackshear, Brandon Blackshear and Briley Blackshear, brother David Miller and sister Ann Wyatt of Lubbock, mother-in-law Maxine Barringer of Andrews, Texas, sisters-in-law Cheryl Beeks of Ira, Texas and Lisa Wright and husband Glen Smith of Dayton, Ohio, along with numerous nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, September 9th at Jersey Village Church of Christ, 8810 Jones Road, Houston, TX 77065. There will be a reception beginning at 10:00 am with services to follow at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Fairfield Church of Christ Endowed Scholarship Fund (scholarship #06-37238) at Lubbock Christian University, or the children’s home of your choice. No services are scheduled through the funeral home. The Addison family and staff of Magnolia Funeral Home extend condolences to Polly's family and friends during this difficult time.
