Jerry Millsaps

Jerry Millsaps passed away peacefully at her home in The Woodlands, Texas, on October 27, 2023, surrounded by her family. She was born in Martinsville, Texas, on June 23, 1931, to Oren and Susie Hargis. Jerry was raised in Martinsville, lived in Nacogdoches for several years where she raised her family, and began her lifelong employment at Southwestern Bell Telephone Company. She later relocated to the Houston area, where she retired in 1986 and also began her life with Joe Millsaps. They shared a home in the Magnolia area before relocating to Tomball. Jerry enjoyed cooking, most especially during Christmas, which was her favorite time of the year. During the holidays her pies were in high demand. During one of her moves, her children discovered that she had 30 plus pie plates to accommodate everyone’s different request for pies. Her chicken and dressing will be greatly missed during future holidays. Throughout her lifetime she also loved traveling, sewing, quilting with her friends, and walking with her dog, BeBe. Her green thumb was infamous in the garden as well as her many potted plants. A constant during her lifetime was forever shopping for clothes, antiques, and anything else that popped up. One of her biggest joys was participating in her grandchildren and great grandchildren’s lives. Jerry has always remained faithful to her Heavenly Father, and has always been very active with her church family. Jerry is survived by her brother, Larry Hargis, her children, Paula & Mike Smith, Kay Barber, and Dale & Becky Spencer; her three grandchildren, Douglas and Jill DePriest, Justin Spencer, and Brandon Spencer, and her three great-grandchildren, Carrol DePriest, Jenna Spencer, and Delaney Spencer. She is preceded in death by her father and mother, Oren and Susie Hargis, her brother, Herbert Hargis, and her husband, Joe Millsaps. The family will be holding a private family service. Ms. Millsaps requested long ago, that instead of sending flowers, she would like donations being made to Tomball First Baptist Church. 401 Oxford St Tomball, TX 77375 The condolences of the Addison family and staff go out to her family and friends.
